London, RICHARD GERE (b. 1949) began a film career that includes such
highlights as Days of Heaven (1978), An Officer and a Gentleman
(1982), Cotton Club (1984), Pretty Woman (1990), Primal
Fear (1996) and the musical Chicago (2002). His performance as
Chicago trial lawyer Billy Flynn in Chicago earned him Golden Globe and
Screen Actors Guild awards. UMA THURMAN (b.1970) made a strong film
debut in Dangerous Liaisons (1988), before appearing in some
unsuccessful films and winning a couple of "Razzies." Pulp Fiction
revitalized her career, as it did Travolta's. Besides her Oscar nomination,
there was high praise from Tarantino, who said she was "up there with Garbo and
Dietrich in goddess territory." Some moderate successes followed, in films
like Beautiful Girls and The Truth About Dogs & Cats.
Then a star turn as a vengeful assassin in another Tarantino film, Kill
