FIREBALL 500 MOVIE CAST: CO-SIGNED BY: FRANKIE AVALON AND FABIAN
The two teen idols are shown together in a scene from the 1966 film Fireball 500 in this black and white publicity photograph.
Photograph signed: "Frankie Avalon" and "Fabian", B/w 10x8. Publicity for the 1966 film Fireball 500. Unlike some of the heavily marketed "teen idols" who ruled youth-oriented American radio between Elvis and The Beatles, FRANKIE AVALON had a real music background. His popularity peaked in 1959, when he had #1 hits "Venus" and "Why". While Avalon made several action movies, beginning with Guns of the Timberland (1960), he is best remembered for his Beach Party movies with Annette Funicello, beginning in 1963. Singer/actor FABIAN, born Fabiano Anthony Forte in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1943, was one of the biggest of the 1950s teen idols, finding overnight stardom after appearances on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. In 1959-1960, he had a number of Top 10 hits, including Tiger, Hound Dog Man and his signature song Turn Me Loose. Fabian then embarked on a film career, appearing in such films as Hound Dog Man (1959), North to Alaska (1960), High Time (1960) and The Longest Day (1962). Billing himself as Fabian Forte after 1970, he continued to appear in films and made-for-TV movies and made guest appearances on several TV shows. In recent years, Fabian has teamed up with fellow teen idols Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell, touring as "The Golden Boys". Lightly creased. Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
