Ford". B/w, 8x10. Betty Ford, born Elizabeth Bloomer (1918-2011), a
former dancer and dance teacher, married her second husband, Gerald R. Ford
(1913-2006) on October 15, 1948, during his campaign for Congress. She spent
nearly 25 years as a Congressional wife and then wife of a Vice President
before becoming First Lady (1974-1977). Mrs. Ford expressed her views
freely while in the White House, including candid discussion of her own
mastectomy. After successfully battling her own chemical dependency, Mrs. Ford
established the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, to treat
others afflicted with this problem. She has written three books,
including an autobiography. In 1999, the couple was awarded the Presidential
Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton. Fine
condition.
