Signed: "Eleanor Roosevelt", 1p, 5½x8½. New York, 1947 June 16. To Frederick Drimmer,
The Greystone Press, New York. In full: "Many thanks for your letter
of June 10th. I am too busy at present trying to finish the second installment
of my autobiography to take any more work." On her stationery from her
Washington Square Greenwich Village apartment. Three paper clip stains at blank
left margin, else fine. With original postmarked envelope bearing her
rubber-stamped free frank full signature: "Anna Eleanor Roosevelt". Torn
at top edge from opening, else fine. Her book, This I Remember, was
published in 1949. The Autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt was
published in 1961, the year of her death. Mrs. Roosevelt was granted the
franking privilege, free use of the mails for life, by special act of Congress
on May 7, 1945, 25 days after her husband died. Two
items.
