Typed Letter Signed: "Eleanor Roosevelt", 1p, 6x7. Val-Kill Cottage, Hyde Park, N.Y., 1952 July 29. To Mr. Schramm. In full: "Thank you so much for your letter. I deeply appreciate your writing me of your approval of my speech and your kind words about my book. With good wishes, Very sincerely yours," Val-Kill Cottage was built as a retreat for Eleanor by FDR on his Hyde Park estate in 1925. She used it sparingly until 1945, but moved into the stone cottage after President Roosevelt died. At the Democratic National Convention held in Chicago July 21-26, 1952, a week before she wrote this letter, Mrs. Roosevelt spoke to the delegates about the importance of the United Nations. The book she mentions was most probably the soon-to-be published UN: Today and Tomorrow. Eleanor Roosevelt represented the United States at the United Nations from 1946-1952. Creased.
