Lady, 4¼x2¾ card. The White House, Washington, no date. Mrs. Franklin
D. Roosevelt, born Anna Eleanor Roosevelt (1184-1962), was the daughter of
Elliott Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt's younger brother. She and her distant
cousin Franklin were married in New York City on March 17, 1905. Her father had
died when she was nine; her uncle Theodore, the President, gave her away at the
wedding. Eleanor and Franklin had five sons and one daughter; one son died in
infancy. They were married for 40 years at the time of FDR's death in 1945. As
First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt engaged actively in public life, traveling
considerably making numerous speeches and reporting her observations in the
press. Slight toning to corners. Fine condition.
