MAMIE EISENHOWER and CARL ALBERT
Black and white publicity photograph of Mamie Eisenhower and Carl
Albert at a dinner.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Tom Fox/Mamie Dowd
Eisenhower" and "Carl Albert". B/w, 8½x6½. MAMIE
EISENHOWER (1896-1979), who was married to Dwight D. Eisenhower for over
50 years until his death (1916-1969), was First Lady of the U.S. from 1953-1961.
She is buried beside the late President in a chapel of the Eisenhower Library,
Abilene, Kansas. CARL ALBERT (1908-2000) was Speaker of the U.S. House of
Representatives. TOM FOX, to whom this photograph was inscribed, was the
head usher at the National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C. Among the
16 other people depicted in this photo with Mrs. Eisenhower and Albert is Army
General William Westmoreland, who did not sign. The photo is signed by two
others, whose signatures are beaded and illegible. Worthy of further research.
Minor surface creases and scratches (not evident head on). Tack head-size yellow
stain at lower right background (not near signatures or images). Photographer's
stamp on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
