In a postscript, the former First Lady adds: "Was grand to see you at the Tribute Dinner and I was proud when you stood with the other cabinet members of Ikes administration-" LEWIS L. STRAUSS served as Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (1953-1958) and Eisenhower's Secretary of Commerce (1958-1959, not confirmed by the Senate). Alice and Lewis Strauss were married from 1923 until his death in 1974. Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower lived in 33 homes during 53 years of married life. During her husband's final illness, Mamie moved into Walter Reed Army Hospital to be with him. Fold crease not at signature. Staple and file note at upper left corner. Fine condition.
