Goldenrod-colored check payable to Ruth Jackson for $5.77. On July 7, 1946, 18-year-old Rosalynn Smith and 21-year-old Ensign Jimmy Carter were married in Plains, Georgia. After her father-in-law died in 1953, her husband Jimmy left the Navy to return home to run the family peanut business; Rosalynn kept the books. As First Lady, Mrs. Carter continued to support her main causes of mental health, the elderly and the Equal Rights Amendment. No cancellation holes. Rubber stamp just touches the "S. C". Fine condition.
