Brief signed letter from the political fiction author to the Students
of Clute Public Schools, wishing them luck on their study of modern
authors
Typed note signed: "Fletcher Knebel", in blue ink, 1 page,
8½x11. December 20, 1972. Cuernavaca, Mexico. In full: "To Students of
Clute Public Schools: All best wishes during your study of modern authors. Good
luck, Sincerely". Fletcher Knebel (1911-1993) was an American author
known for his work in political fiction. After graduating from college,
Knebel went to work for the Coatesville Record in Pennsylvania, and would
spend the next 20 years working in newspapers, specializing in political
columns. In 1960, Knebel contributed to the book Candidates 1960,
which helped realize his passion for writing books. He would go on to write
15 books, most fiction, but all dealing with politics. Most popular of his
books, Seven Days in May, was made into a film in 1964. Surface
creases, esp. heavy on outer margins. Corners lightly worn and creased. Pencil
notes (unknown hand) on bottom left margin. Small tear on bottom edge. Paper
thin and fragile, but otherwise fine condition.
