namesake of a title contender boxer and the nephew of two others, FLOYD
MAYWEATHER JR. won national Gold Glove championships in 1993, 1994 and 1996 and
earned a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics. Since turning pro Mayweather has yet to be
defeated (41-0, including 25 knockouts, through mid-2010), winning title belts in four
weight classes as he has moved up steadily from jr. lightweight to welterweight. Mayweather's
fight with Oscar de la Hoya, held in Las Vegas on May 5, 2005, broadcast on pay per
view, earned $120 million, making it the most lucrative boxing match in history.
Mayweather won the fight by a split decision to take the WBC Super Welterweight title,
but earned a mere $25 million. Fine condition.
