Floyd Gibbons sends a typed letter forwarding his autograph.
Typed Letter Signed: "Floyd Gibbons", 1p, 6½x8. No place,
1932 August 11. To Mr. John Wallace Graham, Los Angles, California. In full:
"Many thanks for your letter of recent date. In compliance with your
request, I am enclosing an autograph [not present] for your collection.
Sincerely" Floyd Gibbons (1887-1939) was a war correspondent and radio
commentator. He earned fame from his reporting of World War I, including a
first-hand account of the sinking of the merchant ship Laconia by a
German U-Boat and a much-quoted account of U.S. Marines in combat at Belleau
Wood. In that battle Gibbons was wounded several times and lost his eye. He
wrote a biography of "the Red Baron" von Richthofen (1927) and a novel of
future war The Red Napoleon (1936), both of which remain in print.

condition.
