Check No. 14107, drawn on the Los Angeles AFTRA Federal Credit Union account at the Bank of America, Hollywood, payable to Foster Brooks for $40. Signed on front: "Bertha Zeff". In the year he endorsed this check, Brooks made guest appearances in four TV series: The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, It Takes a Thief (two episodes in different roles) and Adam-12 (different roles in two episodes). Stand-up comedian and actor Foster Brooks (1912-2001) was a radio and television broadcaster before breaking into acting in the 1960s (he would make his national TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1962 after opening for Perry Como at the new Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas). Known as "The Loveable Lush", Brooks is best known for his frequent appearances on Dean Martin celebrity roasts (despite being known for playing a drunk, Brooks became a national spokesman for Mothers Against Drunk Driving - MADD - and did public service announcements for the organization). Brooks was a regular on two TV series, The Real Tom Kennedy Show (1970) and The New Bill Cosby Show (1972-1973), he lent his voice to the animated TV series, Challenge of the GoBots (1984), and he made numerous guest appearances on TV variety shows and series, from Gunsmoke (1962) to Cosby (1996). His film credits include Super Seal (1976), Cracking Up (1983), Cannonball Run II and Oddballs (both 1984) and The Giant of Thunder Mountain (1991, his last film). Lightly creased. Bank stamps on verso, not at signature. Ink marks on front lightly show through to verso (not at signature). Bank cancellation holes, not at signature. Endorsement shows through to front of check.
