VICTOR OLIVER, FRANCES DAY
Page signed by Oliver and Day, who were cast mates in an unidentified production
Signatures: "Vic Oliver", "Lou Cass", "Mary Owen"," "Topsy" and "Frances Day", all in blue ink. 2 pages, 6 ¼ x 5 ¼, with signatures all on one page. Second page has unsigned clipped advertisement, 2 ¾x1, listing all five signers in an unidentified "Musical Laugh Hit Showered with Stars". Oliver and Day were cast opposite each other in two British movies, Who's Your Lady Friend? (1937) and Room for Two (1940), both film adaptations of plays. OLIVER (1898-1964), born Viktor Oliver Von Samek in Vienna, Austria, was a British actor/comedian. He was also an accomplished violinist and one of the first comedians to incorporate his musical talents into a comedy act. In addition to appearing on stage, Oliver was featured in several films, including Rhythm in the Air (1936), Meet Mr. Penny and I'll Be Your Sweetheart (1945), and he was a regular on the TV series, Hotel Imperial (1958). Oliver was married to actress Sarah Churchill, the daughter of Sir Winston Churchill, from 1936 until their divorce in 1945. DAY (1908-1984) was an American actress and singer who was popular in the United Kingdom during the 1930's. Originally a nightclub singer, she moved to the London musical stage. She has 10 stage credits between 1932 and 1949, including Evangeline (1946) and 19 movie credits. Lightly toned. Pages have been neatly torn from album. Otherwise in fine condition.
