FRANCES STARR
A sentiment penned from the Broadway starring stage actress
Autograph sentiment signed: "Faithfully/Frances Starr", 3½x2½.
Attached is a newspaper clipping of the actress' image. Frances Starr
(1886-1973) was a stage and film actress with a career spanning 50 plus
years, beginning with her appearance in the 1901 play Nell
Gwyn. She would appear in 24 more plays afterwards, including The
Case of Becky (1912), The Shelf (1926), Lady Jane (1934), and
Claudia (1941). Many of these plays would be starring roles or
prominent roles, though she unfortunately never gained the critical reception
she desired. Beyond theater, she appeared in a small number of film and
television roles, with a standout role in one of the early "talkies" Five
Star Final (1931) as a wronged mother. Her career slowed after the 50's,
and she passed away later in 1973 after being retired from acting for several
years. Corners slightly worn. Slightly soiled. Adhesive residue on verso. Fine
condition.
