Autograph Note Signed: "Best wishes to Elsie -/Franchot Tone" in pencil. 4x4½. Question card for a performance by the mentalist Myrus, "The Wizard of Telepathy" and "The Man with the X-Ray Eyes", at the Cafe Lamaze in Hollywood, California. This card is from the personal autograph collection of Elsie Myrus, wife of Myrus. She collected autographs from celebrities who came to see her husband's performances. American actor Tone (1905-1968), born Stanislaus Pascal Franchot Tone, was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in 1935's Mutiny on the Bounty. A star of stage and screen, Tone appeared in feature films including The Wiser Sex (1932), Moulin Rouge (1934), Reckless (1935) and Advise and Consent (1962). In 1958, he co-produced, co-directed and starred in Uncle Vanya, the screen version of the off-Broadway play in which he had performed. Tone was also seen in television productions on The Hallmark Hall of Fame and Playhouse 90 and appeared in a number of TV series, including The Twilight Zone, Bonanza and Ben Casey. Three of his four wives were actresses - Joan Crawford, Jean Wallace and Barbara Payton. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
