The Broadway actor pens a note to a fan on this index card
Autograph Note signed: “To Joe -/ All the best/ Francis Ruivivar” in black ink, 6x4. Francis
Ruivivar (1960-2001) was an actor famous for becoming the first performer of Asian
descent to play the role of The Engineer in the Broadway musical Miss Saigon; he took
over the role from Jonathan Pryce in 1991 and then completely replaced him, playing the role
through March 1993. Ruivivar's Broadway debut came in the musical Chess. He followed
up this appearance with a role in Starlight Express, Shogun-The Musical before famously
playing The Engineer in Miss Saigon. In addition to his Broadway credits, Ruivivar appeared
in many regional theatre productions and headlined his own one-man shows: Broadway
Showstoppers! and Broadway on the Beach. Lightly toned. Pencil note in an unknown hand
on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
