Letter of introduction for Albert F. Madlener, Jr. of Chicago "who, accompanied by his wife (Harriet Lowden Madlener), is about to proceed abroad...." Kellogg served as Secretary of State from 1925-1929. He was awarded the 1929 Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the 1928 Kellogg-Briand Pact which condemned "recourse to war for the solution of international controversies". Lightly creased. Paper clip stain at upper left. Minor soiling. ½-inch tear at right edge with some paper loss. Nicked at folds.
