(1864-1922) appeared in 6 Broadway plays between 1912 and 1921. He is
best known for the play Lightnin', which ran for 1,291 performances at
New York's Gaiety Theatre (1919-1921). Bacon wrote this play, which would be
made into a film and revived on Broadway after his death, and also initiated the
starring role of Lightnin' Bill Jones. Bacon also appeared in 4 silent films
(1915-1916). He was the father of director Lloyd Bacon and the grandfather of
actresses Virginia and Mary O'Brien. Toned. Heavy mounting residue on verso.
