FRANK BUCK
Frank Buck sends a typed letter saying that he will be sending an advance copy of his book Animals Are Like That.
Typed Letter Signed: "Frank Buck", 1p, 6½x8¼. New York, 1939 November 15. To Mr. Louis Sobol, New York City, New York.In full: "I am sending you under separate cover an advance copy of my new opus entitled 'Animals Are Like That', which will be out next week. If you are interested in some real 'low-down' on the beasties, you may enjoy the book. It has been recommended by the Book-of-the-Month club and is generally conceded to be both authentic and interesting. With best wishes, I am Yours faithfully," Frank Buck (1884-1950), hunter, author and filmmaker, made his first expedition to South America in 1911. He eventually traveled to Malaya, India, Borneo, New Guinea and Africa. From these and other expeditions he brought back many exotic species that he sold to zoos and circuses, ultimately acquiring the nickname "Bring 'em Back Alive". Included with Buck's February 26th letter are the retained unsigned carbon copies of the four letters quoted from Murray to Buck. Folds, horizontal fold touches signature. Overall, fine condition.
