Photograph signed by one of Hollywood's most influential directors
Inscribed photograph signed "To Louis/from/Frank Capra/Best Wishes". B/w, 8x10. Capra appears to be on the set of a documentary or television interview in this photograph. You can see the lavalier mike hanging from around his neck. Capra was featured in a number of documentaries and interviews after his producing and directing career ended in 1961 with the release of A Pocketful of Miracles. His influence continues to be felt today, especially from his earlier films like Lost Horizon and It's a Wonderful Life. Capra (1897-1991), born in Sicily, was the winner of three Best Director Academy Awards for It Happened One Night (1934), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) and You Can't Take It With You (1938). He enjoyed total creative freedom on his sets and also directed, among other films, Lost Horizon (1937), Meet John Doe (1941) and It's A Wonderful Life (1946). Capra was the first Hollywood director to have his name precede a film's title. Fine condition.
