N.Y., 1960 March 10. On behalf of Frank Capra Productions, he signs a
detailed letter of agreement governing distribution of profits from the 1959
film A Hole in the Head. Frank Capra, born Francesco Rosario Capra in
Sicily, was the winner of three Best Director Academy Awards: It Happened One
Night (1934), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), and You Can't Take It
With You (1938). He enjoyed total creative freedom on his sets andalso directed among others, Lost Horizon (1937), Meet John Doe
(1941), and It's A Wonderful Life (1946). He was the first Hollywood
director to have his name precede a film's title. James "Jimmy" Stewart
(1908-1997) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than
any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The
Philadelphia Story,and he was nominated for Oscars in the
same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A
Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder
(1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also
appeared in You Can't Take It With You, Destry Rides Again,
Winchester 73, Rear Window, The Glenn Miller Story, The
Greatest Show on Earth and a long list of other features. A Hole in
the Head starred Frank Sinatra and Edward G. Robinson. File holes at
upper margin. Stray ink and pencil marks at upper right. Staple and holes at
upper left. Fold creases, not near signature. Lightly toned at edges. Otherwise,
fine condition.
