FRANK FLETCHER. Autograph Letter signed: "Fletcher", 1p, 5¼x8½. No place, no date. To "Dear Jane" in full: "Thank you for your letter and your kind words about Bring Up Father. I receive loads of requests for originals each year from all over the world, in fact, more than I can accommodate on my limited salary. However, I would be honored to send you a Sunday original, if you would send me $3.00 to cover my cost of postage and mailing. Cordially". Bringing Up Father, one of America's all-time favorite comic strips, was created by George McManus in 1913, and remained in syndication until 2000, employing a succession of artists. Frank Fletcher (b. 1919) worked on the strip, mainly for the Sunday pages, from 1965-1984. Fletcher also drew for the comic books Blondie and Daisy and Pups. Ink note on verso shows through lightly at lower edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
