Autograph Note to radio/TV host George Sanders on opposite sides of an album leaf
Autograph Notes signed: "My/George Pal/Crazy/Frank Fontaine" and on verso "To George,/With best wishes from/another old U of D Grad/Ed Annis".7¾x10 album leaf w/7x4½ newspaper clipping affixed to front along with 5½x3 paper with note (3 surfaces, and 2¾x3¼ newspaper clipping affixed on verso (2 surfaces). Ink note (unknown hand) dates Annis' ANS to 1963. Comedian/actor FRANK FONTAINE (1920-1978) is best known for his "Crazy Guggenheim" character, which he portrayed on the TV series Jackie Gleason and His American Scene Magazine (1962-1966) and reprised on a guest visit to The Jackie Gleason Show in 1967. A fine singer as well as comedian, Fontaine was a regular on the TV series Music Hall (1952), and he guest starred on The Jack Benny Program (1951, 1959, 1960, 1961) and The Dean Martin Show (1966). He also appeared in several feature films from 1950-1953. EDWARD ANNIS (1913-2009), a surgeon in Miami, Florida, was President of the American Medical Association (1963-1964), and then of the World Medical Association. He was a director of the US Chamber of Commerce (1969-1975). Annis authored the book Code Blue: Health Care in Crisis (1993). He was one of two US doctors featured in the book Caring Physicians of the World (2005). The U of D mentioned in his note was the University of Detroit. (He earned his medical degree at Marquette. Left edge ragged from previous binding. Show-through on both sides. Otherwise, fine condition.
