PEE WEE KING and REDD STEWART
They inscribe the words and music to a handwritten copy of "The Tennessee Waltz," which they wrote.
Autograph Musical Quotation inscribed and signed: "To William Stanhope/Thanks for//your interest/Pee Wee King/9/20/89", "Me too/Redd Stewart", 1 page, 8x8, music notation paper. King had written in pencil the words and music to the first verse of "The Tennessee Waltz", titled it, and noted authorship: "By Pee Wee/King/and Redd/Stewart". Stewart has signed in pen. Singer/guitarist REDD STEWART (1923-2003) joined brash young accordionist and bandleader Frank PEE WEE KING (1914-2000) to write and record big country music hits like "Bonaparte's Retreat" and the enduring "Tennessee Waltz." King and Stewart have said that they wrote "Tennessee Waltz" on an unfolded matchbox while riding in Stewart's truck. The hits kept coming with "Slow Poke" and "You Belong to Me" topping the charts in the early 1950s, and the duo continued to play in bands together throughout the 1960s. Both are enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Toned. Filing holes at right edge. Ink notes (unknown hand). Otherwise, fine condition.
