Autograph Letter signed: "Frank Ryan", 1 page, 7¼x3¾. New Haven, Connecticut, 1982 October 18. On his letterhead at Ray Tompkins House, Yale University to "Dear Mr. Wood". In full: "Bill Baker passed along your request. I hope that the enclosed will suit your needs. Sincerely." In a thirteen-year pro football career (1958-1970) with the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins, quarterback Frank Ryan led the league in passing touchdowns twice (1964, 1966). While with the Browns, he was named to three consecutive Pro Bowl teams (1964-1966). He is the only PhD in mathematics to have played in the NFL. He was Athletic Director at Yale when he wrote this letter. Slightly soiled. Mounting paper remnants on verso (no show-through). Otherwise, fine condition.
