Promissory note signed: "Frank Ryan", 1p, 8½x13. 1967 June 29. Promissory Note for $30,000, payable to Cleveland Browns, Inc. in three installments at 5 percent annual interest. Due date of July 1, 1968. Lightly toned and creased. Paper clip impression and rust stains in top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition. Accompanied by: Two unsigned copies of an employment contract with the Browns. 2p each, 8½x13, bound with 1 staple. 1967 December 13. This employment contract, between Ryan and the Browns, had a term equal to the number of years Ryan performed under his Standard Player Contract with the Browns. He received $5,000 annually for consulting, recruitment and PR on behalf of the Browns. Lightly toned and creased. Paper clip impression and rust stains in top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition. In a thirteen-year pro football career (1958-1970) with the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins, quarterback Ryan, born in 1936, led the league in passing touchdowns twice (1964, 1966). While with the Browns, he was named to three consecutive Pro Bowl teams (1964-1966). He is the only PhD in mathematics to have played in the NFL. Five items.
