FRANK SINATRA - AUTOGRAPHED INSCRIBED PHOTOGRAPH - HFSID 257957
Sale Price $1,020.00
Inscribed photo showing Sinatra, dressed as an early 19th century gentleman, shaking hands with Spencer Tracy
Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Iggy/Frank Sinatra". Sepia, 8x10. Stamped on verso: "Visitors Welcome...Spencer Tracy extends a welcoming handshake to visitor Frank Sinatra on the set of "Cass Timberlane" the MGM production which costars Lana Turner with Mr. Tracy." (Sinatra was not in the cast of this 1945 film, nor making any film at the time requiring this style of dress. He was, however, under contract with MGM, so perhaps the publicity department arranged this photo opportunity.) The multi-talented actor and singer won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1953 (as Maggio in From Here to Eternity) and Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal in 1959 ("Come Dance With Me"), 1965 ("It Was a Very Good Year") and 1966 ("Strangers in the Night"). After being with the Harry James Orchestra and Tommy Dorsey, Sinatra struck out on his own, becoming the hero of a generation of "bobby-soxers". "Old Blue Eyes" was popular in venues from casinos to concert halls, and his renditions of such tunes as "My Way" and "New York, New York" are inimitable classics. "The Chairman of the Board" was equally well-known for his philanthropies. He was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1970. Creased. Lightly soiled at upper left corner. Overall, fine condition.
