FRANKIE AVALON
Black and white publicity still from the 1965 film, Sergeant Deadhead.
Photograph signed: "Frankie Avalon". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 9½x7 (one surface). Publicity still from the 1965 film, Sergeant Deadhead, in which the teen-idol starred in the dual roles of Sergeant O.K. Deadhead and Sergeant Donovan. ©1965, American International Pictures. Sergeant Deadhead also starred Deborah Walley, Cesar Romero, Gale Gordon, Buster Keaton, Eve Arden and Pat Buttram. In 1965, the singer/actor also appeared in Ski Party, Beach Blanket Bingo, I'll Take Sweden, How to Stuff a Wild Bikini and Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine. "Teen idol" Frankie Avalon (born Francis Avallon in 1939), who was a staple of the American pop scene between Elvis and The Beatles, recorded two No. 1 hits, "Venus" and "Why", in 1959, and charted six additional Top 10 singles and a Top 10 album. While Avalon made several action movies, beginning with Guns of the Timberland (1960), he is best remembered for his Beach Party movies with Annette Funicello, beginning in 1963. Avalon still tours in "golden boy" revivals with Bobby Rydell and Fabian. Lightly creased at blank corners. Lightly soiled at blank margins. Overall, fine condition.
