Frankie Avalon signs a black and white publicity still from the 1964 film, Muscle Beach Party.
Photograph signed: "All the Best/Frankie Avalon". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 9½x7 (one surface). Still from the 1964 film, Muscle Beach Party, which starred Avalon as Frankie and co-starred Annette Funicello, Luciana Paluzzi and John Ashley. The film, which featured Don Rickles, Jody McCrea and Dick Dale and the Del Tones, introduced Little Stevie Wonder. ©1964, American International Pictures. Captioned at lower margin. In the year this film was released, Avalon also starred in Bikini Beach and Pajama Party. Avalon and Funicello appeared together in ten Beach Party films between 1963-1968, and they reunited in 1987 in Back to the Beach, which the two co-financed. "Teen idol" Frankie Avalon (born Francis Avallon in 1939), who was a staple of the American pop scene between Elvis and The Beatles, recorded two No. 1 hits, "Venus" and "Why", in 1959, and charted six additional Top 10 singles and a Top 10 album. Avalon also made several action movies, beginning with Guns of the Timberland (1960), in addition to his Beach Party films. He still tours in "golden boy" revivals with Bobby Rydell. Surface creased, not at writing or facial image. Slightly yellowed at margins, minor nicks at upper right edge. Overall, fine condition.
