FRANKIE AVALON
Frankie Avalon signs an advertisement for his appearance at the
Multnomah County Exposition Center October 28-31, 1971.
Advertisement signed: "All the Best/Frankie Avalon", 6¼x7
attached to 6¾x9¼ album leaf. Unlike some of the heavily marketed "teen idols"
who ruled youth-oriented American radio between Elvis and The Beatles, Avalon
had a real music background. His popularity peaked in 1959, when he had #1
hits "Venus" and "Why". While Avalon made several action movies, beginning
with Guns of the Timberland (1960), he is best remembered for his
Beach Party movies with Annette Funicello, beginning in 1963. Avalon
still tours in "golden boy" revivals with Bobby Rydell and Fabian.
"Togetherness", since covered by other artists, can be heard on several of
Avalon's "best of" and "greatest hits" albums. Rounded right corner. Otherwise,
fine condition.
