FRANKIE AVALON
The 1950s teen idol signs his name on his album cover for Swingin'
on a Rainbow
Record album cover signed: " Frankie Avalon" in blue felt tip.
12¼x12¼. Record included. © Am-Par Record Corp. Chancellor. Unlike some
of the heavily marketed "teen idols" who ruled youth-oriented American radio
between Elvis and The Beatles, Frankie Avalon (b. 1939) had a real music
background. His popularity peaked in 1959, when he had #1 hits "Venus" and
"Why". While Avalon made several action movies, beginning with Guns of
the Timberland (1960), he is best remembered for his Beach Party
movies with Annette Funicello, beginning in 1963. Avalon still tours in
"golden boy" revivals with Bobby Rydell and Fabian. Edges heavily worn.
Otherwise, fine condition.
