Photograph inscribed and signed twice: "To Norman/Jones/from/Francis Neil/1903-1966". Identical text in his hand on verso. B/w, 3½x5½. Francis "Frankie" Neil (1883-1970) was world Bantamweight boxing champion (1903-1904). In one successful title defense, he pummeled Billy DeCoursey so badly that the fight was stopped by the police! (September 1903). Neil fought Abe Attell twice for the Featherweight title, but lost twice before retiring in 1910. He lost his winnings owning and betting on race horses. He was probably signing a 1903 photo in 1966. Lighlty creased. Right corners creased and lightly chipped away. Signature light most not visible head on. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise fine condition,
