Inscribed photograph signed: "To Clint:/ [illegible]/ Frankie/
Thomas" and "To Clint -/ All the best/ always -/ Frank M./ Thomas" in

Broadway from 1932, sharing stages with actors like Jimmy Stewart and
Burgess Meredith. Wednesday's Child (1934) had the longest stage part
ever given to a child actor. When Wednesday's Child was filmed, Thomas
went to Hollywood to star in it, with his parents playing character roles.
He played many other youthful parts, including the mayor of Boys' Town
(1940), before patrolling the Atlantic as a Coast Guard officer in World War
II. From 1950 to 1955, Thomas starred as Tom Corbett, Space Cadet,
beating out Jack Lemmon for the role. Thereafter he left acting to turn
his hobbies into professions: writing books about bridge and novels featuring
Sherlock Holmes. In the 1990s, Thomas was a hit at fan convention, wearing his
old space cadet uniform, which still fit him. FRANK M. THOMAS (1889-1989)
was an American stage, screen and television actor, best known for his film
roles in westerns such as A Man to Remember (1938), A Shot
in the Dark (1941), No Place for a Lady (1943) and
The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976). His son Frankie Thomas
became a famed child actor. Ink notes on verso in unknown hand. Fine condition.
