Autograph Musical Quotation signed: "Lehár Franz" in pencil, 2½x4. No place, 1925 September 4. Hungarian violinist and composer Lehár (1870-1948) was a major figure in the revival of Viennese light opera at the beginning of the 20th century. His work The Merry Widow (1905) popularized operetta in the U.S. He composed several marches as a military bandmaster before and during World War I. During the 1920s, Lehár incorporated new styles of popular music, including American blues, into his compositions, and began composing film scores. The composer, remained in Vienna during WWII, avoiding politics. Corners cut. Irregular left edge. Lightly soiled.
