FRED ASTAIRE and ADELE ASTAIRE
Both sign their names, with Adele writing "Sincerely"
Signatures: "Fred Astaire" and "Sincerely/Adele Astaire". 4½x2¼ album leaf. In a double act with his sister Adele, Fred Astaire danced in cabarets, vaudeville houses and music halls worldwide before he was 20. Their only film together was 1915's Fanchon, the Cricket, starring Mary Pickford. Their first major Broadway success was Over the Top in 1917. FRED (1899-1987) and ADELE ASTAIRE (1898-1981) headlined one New York stage hit after another in the 1920s. When Adele married British Lord Charles Cavendish in 1931, Fred found himself soloing for the first time. Light yellowing around edges and irregular left edge from removal of bound book. One unidentified signature beneath the Astaires and one on verso. Fine condition.
