Bandleader Fred Waring signed and dated this vintage b/w bust photo of himself, in a white suit and tie, "With Good Wishes" in 1983, a year before his death.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Dennis/With Good Wishes/Fred Waring/1983" in blue ink B/w, 8x10 overall, 7½x9½ image, one surface. In the 1930s, In the 1930s, Waring (1900-1984, born Frederick Malcolm Waring in Tyrone, Pennsylvania) and his band performed on radio and in films. They were at the 1940 World's Fair and appeared on Broadway in 1945. Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians scored pop hits in 1947 and 1949 and became the first band to land their own television show (1949). Waring was the recipient of a 1982 Congressional Gold Medal for his contributions to American music. Lightly rippled at mid-left and right edges. Lightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
