First Day Cover signed: "Fred Willard", 6½x3¾. FDC honoring the American Flag, 13-cent coil stamp affixed, postmarked Philadelphia, PA, November 15, 1975, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Actor/comedian Fred Willard (born 1939), a veteran of The Second City comedy troupe and a founding member of the Ace Trucking Company, has made over 50 appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, has been a regular on or hosted several TV series, including Real People (1979, 1981-1983), and has guest starred on a long list of sitcoms from 1966-2004, including Everybody Loves Raymond, for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award. In 1977 and 1978, Willard co-starred with Martin Mull as one of the co-hosts (Jerry Hubbard) in three spin-offs of the TV series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman: Fernwood 2Nite, Forever Fernwood and America 2-Night. Willard, who made his film debut in 1967's Teenage Mother, has appeared in numerous feature films, including Silver Streak (1976), National Lampoon Goes to the Movies (1983), Roxanne (1987), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), The Wedding Planner (2001), American Wedding (2003), 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover (2004), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). He has also made several TV movies and has toured in a successful one-man show. Slightly creased. Lightly soiled on verso, which has light show through of embossing. Fine condition.
