museum, signs his name in red ink
Autograph letter signed: "Sincerely Yours/ Fredd Wayne" in red ink. 1 page, 8½x11. January
17, 1985. Santa Monica, California. In full: "Dear Todd Axelrod: Sorry I am so late in
responding. Your letter of 11 September 1984 was misplaced. I hope these items will suffice? I
have much much more material but it's practically all Xerox copies, etcetera. Which you don't
want, from your letter. Best wishes to the museum". American actor Fredd Wayne (1924-2018)
has enjoyed a seven decade long career with numerous appearances on Broadway, radio,
television and film; however, Wayne is best remembered for his portrayal of Benjamin
Franklin which he made famous first with his one man show titled Benjamin Franklin,
Citizen which he toured through New York, Ohio, and eventually Los Angeles. His Franklin
act was so popular he appeared as the historical figure on the Today and Tonight shows, on
the T.V. series Bewitched (1966), Daniel Boone (1969), Simon & Simon (1986), and A
More Perfect Union: America Becomes a Nation (1989). Wayne's additional Broadway
credits include Texas, Li'l Darlin' (1949) and Not for Children (1951), and he has appeared
in films such as Crest of the Wave (1954), The Girl He Left Behind (1956), and Man on
the Moon (1999). Light surface creases. Slightly toned. Fine condition.
