FREDERICK VAN NUYS
Ink signature on stationery of the Senate Foreign Relations
Committee
Signature: "Frederick Van Nuys/Indiana", 8x10½. On letterhead
of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Frederick Van Nuys (1874-1944)
was a state legislator and US attorney before being elected in 1932 to the
first of two terms in the US Senate from Indiana. Curiously, the
Biographical Dictionary of the United States Congress records Van Nuys as
Chairman of the Committee on Expenditures in Executive Departments and a member
of the Judiciary Committee, but omits his service on the Committee on Foreign
Relations, as shown on the printed Senate letterhead here. Van Nuys died in
office. Normal mailing folds. Toned and soiled. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine
condition.
