Fredric March signed and filled out this membership application for the American Federation of Radio Artists in 1937, the same year he received an Oscar nod for his role in Nothing Sacred.
Document signed "Fredric March". Green ink notations in unknown hand.2 pages,6¼x8½, 1 sheet folded, front and verso. Sept. 27, 1937. Membership application for the American Federation of Radio Artists, filled out by March in his own hand. According to this application, March was a radio actor (with membership in the Screen Actor's Guild, as well) who received up to $20,000 from radio during the past year. His membership fee was $36. In 1937, March starred in Nothing Sacred, giving a performance that would earn him an Academy Award nomination, as well as the now-classic A Star Is Born. Stage, screen and occasional television actor March (1897-1975, born Frederick Ernest McIntyre Bickel in Racine, Wisconsin), won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931-1932) and The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), and he was also nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for The Royal Family of Broadway (1930-1931), A Star is Born (1937) and Death of a Salesman (1951). March, whose other films include The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934), Les Misérables (1935), Inherit the Wind (1960) and Seven Days in May (1964), also won Best Actor Tony Awards for Years Ago (1947) and Long Day's Journey Into Night (1957). Lightly toned and creased. Lightly torn in top right corner. Folded once vertically and horizontally and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
