The Oscar-winning actor signed this document in 1966 to certify that
he would provide NBC with voice-overs for a program tentatively titled The
Spirit of St. Louis.
Document signed: "Fredric March" in blue ink and by a
representative of National Broadcasting Company, Inc. in black ink. Red pencil
notations in unknown hand. 1 page, 8½x11. Oct. 5, 1966. Addressed to Mr.
Fredric March c/o Robert Sanford, New York City. March signed this document to
signify that he would provide voice-overs on a program tentatively titled
The Spirit of St. Louis. NBC would pay him $300 for this job, with
decreasing sums for each repeat. Stage, screen and occasional television actor
Frederic March (1897-1975), born Frederick Ernest McIntyre Bickel in
Racine, Wisconsin, won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931-1932) and The Best Years of Our
Lives (1946), and he was also nominated for the Best Actor Oscar
for The Royal Family of Broadway (1930-1931), A Star is
Born (1937) and Death of a Salesman (1951). March, whose
other films include The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934),
Les Misérables (1935), Inherit the Wind (1960) and
Seven Days in May (1964), also won Best Actor Tony
Awards for Years Ago (1947) and Long Day's Journey Into
Night (1957). Lightly toned and soiled. Staple holes in top left corner.
Discolored in bottom right corner. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise, fine
condition.
