Red pencil marks on verso in unknown hand. 1 page, 8½x11, 1 sheet, front and verso, with a 4½x2 rider stapled to second page. Nov. 19, 1945. March and Marshall both signed this document to confirm that March would appear on a Dec. 16, 1945 radio adaptation of The Royal Family, hosted by U. S. Steel Corporation. March was to be paid $2,500 for this performance. In 1950, March also appeared in the Broadway play A Bell for Adano. Stage, screen and occasional television actor FREDERIC MARCH (1897-1975), born Frederick Ernest McIntyre Bickel in Racine, Wisconsin, won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931-1932) and The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), and he was also nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for The Royal Family of Broadway (1930-1931), A Star is Born (1937) and Death of a Salesman (1951). March, whose other films include The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934), Les Misérables (1935), Inherit the Wind (1960) and Seven Days in May (1964), also won Best Actor Tony Awards for Years Ago (1947) and Long Day's Journey Into Night (1957). ARMINA MARSHALL (1895-1991),born in the Cherokee Strip of the old Oklahoma Territory, who first appeared on the Broadway stage in 1924, became a prominent playwright and producer. She was also a co-administrator of the Theatre Guild, whichhasproduced 228 Broadway plays as of 2002. Marshall and Langer received a Tony Award for the stage version of Sunrise at Campobello in 1958 and a special Tony (1961) for organizing the first repertory group to tour the world for the U. S. State Department (at the behest of President John F. Kennedy). Lightly toned and creased. Light tears at right edge and nicks at bottom edge. Pencil marks show through (do not touch signature). Paper clip impression at top left corner. Staples are rusting. Folded once vertically and twice horizontally and unfolded. Otherwise, fine condition.
