FRIEDRICH GULDA
London record album cover for Beethoven, signed by the famed Austrian concert and jazz pianist.
Record Album Cover signed: "Friedrich Gulda" on verso. Color, 12x12¼. Cover for Beethoven, which featured Gulda on Piano and Ruggiero Ricci on violin. The album featured two Beethoven Sonatas: Sonato No. 7 and Sonata No. 10. Record not present. Argentian-produced album, liner notes on verso are imprinted in Spanish. Austrian-born classical and jazz pianist Friedrich Gulda (1930-2000) was acclaimed for his interpretations of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven when he toured Europe and South America in 1949. In 1950, Gulda made his debut at Carnegie Hall, and the following year, he became more involved with jazz. In 1956, Gulda played his first American jazz concert at Birdland in New York City, following up the successful engagement with a stop at the Newport Jazz Festival. He then formed the Eurojazz Orchestra, which incorporated stylings from both the jazz and classical worlds. In addition to his live performances, Gulda made a number of recordings, both as a soloist and with other musicians. Lightly creased and soiled, touching signature. Light impression of record on verso. Separated at lower portion. Overall, fair condition.
