He signs a page from a Looney Tunes comic strip featuring Sylvester the Cat attempting to escape from Alcatraz, double matted to 11x14
Printed Art signed: "Fritz Freleng", 6¼x9¾, double matted to 11x14. 1 page from a Looney Tunes comic strip featuring Sylvester the cat attempting to escape from Alcatraz. Friz Freleng (1905-1995) began his film career as an animator in 1924 before joining Walt Disney's operations during 1927. Then at Winkler Picture Corporation in New York, he worked for the next three years on Krazy Kat cartoons. Ever progressing due to his talent and creativity, Freleng became a director and a creator of cartoons with Warner Brothers for the creative team of the Merrie Melodies and Looney Tune cartoons. He was one of the first animators to give definitive personalities to cartoon characters, including "Bugs Bunny". While supervising his hand-picked team of animators and writers at Warners, Feleng directed Knighty Knight Bugs (1958 which won an Academy Award). He went on to establish DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, Incorporated, where he produced and created the Pink Panther. Freleng directed these Academy Award winners: Tweety Pie (1947), Speedy Gonzales (1955) and Birds Anonymous (1957). Fine condition.
