FUZZY KNIGHT
Fuzzy Knight handwrote and signed this letter on a card about the loss and recovery of his English setter puppy Trooper.
Autograph note signed "Fuzzy Knight". 5½x3¼ card. In full: "Dear friend Richard-: This has been a very happy day for me. I just found my little puppy (Trooper) which I thought had run away my neighbor brought him hot footing it home. He's just 4 mo's old, and English setter with long hair, black and white blotches all over he has a large house with his name over the door and he's always playing the back of our house, which has loads of trees. Me also have two canaries named Laddie and Lucky. Hope to hear from you again soon,". Knight (1901-1976, born John Forest Knight in Fairmont, West Virginia) was a comedic sidekick in Westerns of the 1930s and 1940s, usually with Johnny Mack Brown and Tex Ritter. Knight got his start in vaudeville and once even led his own band. He broke into films with an uncredited role in Night Parade (1929), the first of his over 190 movies and TV shows. Some of his more memorable performances include Mae West's bumpkin cousin in My Little Chickadee and a rare dramatic role as Tater in The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936). He made the jump to TV in 1950, where he continued to play sidekicks, including Sagebrush on The Gene Autry Show (1950-1951) and Private Fuzzy Knight in Buster Crabbe's Captain Gallant of the Foreign Legion (1955-1957). Lightly toned and bowed. Irregular top edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
