The Ecuadorian Consul General in the US informs Smith & Wesson of
his nation's custom duties on revolvers.
Typed Letter signed: "G. R. de Ycasa", 1 page, 8½x11. New
York, N. Y., 1926 September 1. On letterhead of the Consulate General of
Ecuador, to Smith & Wesson Inc., Springfield, Massachusetts. In full:
"In reply to yours of the 29th we wish to inform you that the custom
duties on revolvers is $/.50.00 on net kilo of 50% ad valorem. (FIFTY SUCRES).
Very truly yours". Smith & Wesson began manufacturing firearms in
Springfield in 1852, and began embarked on a global sales campaign as early
as 1867. Consular offices, lacking the political duties of an
embassy, concentrate on economic issues like trade promotion, and protection of
their citizens visiting the host country. The Sucre is the official
currency of Ecuador. Multiple folds. Small notch on right edge. Toned. Light
