Shirt from the TV show Annie Oakley, worn by Davis to fan conventions; accompanied by a signed photo of Davis on horseback in her fondly remembered TV role.
Two items: 1) Shirt, unsigned. Polyester Western style shirt, black with white loop fringe around the yoke and down the sleeves, size 17, from Hi Bar C California Ranchwear. White floral appliqués adorn front and back. Snap buttons on front and cuffs. Rhinestones placed in flowers and on collar. Accompanied by copy of an e-mail from Davis' daughter Terrie attesting that her daughter wore this shirt to nostalgia events of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Fine condition. 2) Photograph signed: "Gail Davis/TV's/'Annie/Oakley". B/w, 8x10. Shown as Annie, riding her horse, Target. Fine condition. Gail Davis'Annie Oakley was the first TV western to star a woman. Produced by Gene Autry's Flying A productions, Annie Oakley was syndicated on television from 1952-1956. Gail Davis (1925-1997) was discovered by Autry, who had featured her in nearly 20 of his movies and 30 of his own program's episodes before giving her a series of her own. A skilled rider and a crack shot, Davis did most of her own stunt work. Two items.
