GALE PAGE
Shown in cone shaped hat with feather, inscribed in person to
collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Love/Gail Page". B/w
8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: July 3, 1940. Gale Page
(1913-1983, born Sally Perkins Rutter in Spokane, Washington) starred in 20
TV shows and movies between 1938 and 1964. Page was a radio actress and singer
for the Ted Weems Orchestra before making her film debut in 1938's Crime
School. Probably her most famous roles are in Four Daughters
(1938) opposite the Lane Sisters, and as the female lead in Knute Rockne,
All-American (1940) as Rockne's wife. She made several appearances on
TV's Robert Montgomery Presents between 1954 and 1957. Saul Goodman
(1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and
theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other
autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy
photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and
creased. Lightly toned around edges. Ink stamp on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
