The popular Wyoming Senator signs his name and state in blue ink
Signature: "Gale W. McGee/ U.S. Senator/ Wyoming" in blue ink. 3½x2 card. Gale W. McGee (1915-1992) was a United States Senator from Wyoming and Ambassador to the Organization of American States. After being forced out of law school due to Great Depression constraints, McGee would go on to receive a Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago, and begin work as a professor of American History at the University of Wyoming. Active in Democratic Party politics, it was after years of asking the McGee finally made a bid for the U.S. Senate in 1958, running on a platform of youth and new ideas. He won, and was appointed to the Interstate and Foreign Commerce Committee and the prestigious Appropriations Committee, the first freshman senator to be so honored. He was essential in the election of President John F. Kennedy, who called McGee "a good friend". McGee's book The Responsibilities of World Power (1968) warn against isolationism and urge the U.S. to accept its power and position imposed upon it in the aftermath of World War II.
